A big “THANK YOU!” to those who helped out on Clean-up Day at Elk’s Park!
1. Clean-up Day at Elk’s! Sunday, April 28th at 10:00 am
Although the City mows our diamonds, we need to get the infields looking gooooood! So, we have an annual clean-up day to spruce up the infields. This year we are also looking at painting the bleachers, and repairing the batting cage!
Bring rakes, shovels, edgers and man power! The more the merrier! Start time is at 10:00 am.
2. Concession will be opening Tuesday, April 30th!
Thanks to Shirley, and others for getting this going! Pizza, hotdogs, smokies and other items will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday and then every Monday to Thursday until the end of the season!
Save a bit of time, come to the park before game time and have a pregame meal (e.g. 5:40). It’s a great way to get to know some of the other families as well. All proceeds will be go back to the leagues at Elk’s Park. Contact Shirley if you want to help out with volunteering in the concession (see “contacts” on web site).

4. Tadpole Assessment Day! Reminder: Thursday, April 25th at 6:15 pm at Diamond 3 Elk’s Park (the diamond closest to 30th Street). This will include a series of stations to assess skill levels and create even teams. Helpers are needed as well as coaches and a division manager.
5. THANKS to the volunteer division managers, coaches and others who are stepping up to help out with youth baseball. Kids grow up so fast – be in their world, and laugh a lot.

SAMBA is seeking umpires for the 2013 season! Our umpires are paid and the umpire clinic is free! (see “forms” for pay scale) We especially need 18UMidget umpires!
Clinic is at South Canoe School on Sunday, April 21st from 9:00 – 4:00.

- Register for Level 2 if you are an adult or have umped before.
- If you are under 18 and have never umped, register in Level 1.

If you are from another association, bring a cheque to the clinic made out to “BCBUA” for the cost of the level you are in.

Assessment days occur to help create teams of even calibre within each division. Players are divided into groups and rotate through skill stations. We will need coaches are to assist with assessment (and coaching).
Division managers will contact players in each division to ensure they are aware of their assessment day.
U13 PeeWee Assessment Day: Wednesday, April 17th at 6:00 pm. Meet at Diamond 2 Elk’s Park. Bring your glove.
U11 Mosquito Assessment Day: Stayed tuned – either April 23 or 25. Meet at Diamond 2 at Elk’s Park. Bring your glove.
U9 Tadpole Assessment Day: TBA
Due to a late Spring Break, SAMBA is extending the deadline to April 12th! No need to pay the late fee.
To note: there will be no Bantam U15 team this year. Interested players are encouraged to play in Vernon, or might be able to play down in the PeeWee division (to be discussed at next executive meeting).

Completed forms (with payment) can be mailed (see address on registration) or dropped off at Askew’s Uptown (at the service counter). If you are accessing Kidsport or other funding, please indicate on your registration form.
