Hello Baseball Parents!

Welcome to a new season! The Salmon Arm Minor Baseball Association (SAMBA) executive would like to welcome you to another season! We wanted to share a few things to familiarize you with baseball in Salmon Arm. The league season typically goes from late April to the end of June.

Four Age Groups Play At The Elk’s Diamonds

  • Tadpoles (7&8 years)
  • Mosquitoes (9 & 10 years)
  • Peewees (11 & 12 years)

Two Age Groups Play At Blackburn Park

  • Midgets (15-17 years)

Your League Fees Go To

  • Equipment (bats, bases, mound plates, catchers’ gear, helmets, t-ball poles, pitching machines, etc.)
  • Balls (are expensive, so please ensure they are returned to equipment bags)
  • Field maintenance equipment (mower, rakes, weed whacker, brooms, etc.)
  • Uniform repair and replacement.
  • Elk’s Park maintenance.
  • Player Insurance.
  • Caps for all & baseball socks for Bantams, Midgets

  • And other administrative costs (photocopying, mailing, etc.)

First Aid

There’s a first aid bag in the storage room at Diamond #2. There is usually ice at the concession (when it is open.)

Elk’s Park

Elk’s Park is managed by caretakers who appreciate dogs to be on leashes, and children to be monitored in washrooms.

Smokers

If you smoke, please be FAR away from the athletes (i.e. outfield).

Uniforms

Wash in cold water. Please return all uniforms in good repair to your coach at season’s end.Players do NOT wear their game pants to practices. Tadpoles & Mosquitoes keep their shirts.

All-Star Baseball

Salmon Arm has had strong showings at zone and provincial championships for a number of years. For those seeking a higher level of play, all-star try outs occur in June. Teams are chosen for each division before the end of June. Practices are usually twice a week with tournament play on some weekends. This usually includes camping and is much fun! More information will be posted in May.

All Star Coaches

Those interested in coaching all-star baseball need to apply in writing to Jeff Lipsett by May 15. NCCP qualifications are required.

Umpires

Please be respectful of these young lads as they learn this skill. Adults can also ump if they’d like. Please check website to find out about umpire clinics.

Concerns or Questions?

Please attempt to resolve questions and disputes with the volunteer coach directly. If the issue or question remains unresolved, please contact your Division Manager. After that, please call Jeff (President).

The Executive, Division Managers And Coaches Are All Volunteers

Please appreciate the time volunteers spend to support your child’s baseball interest. More volunteers are always welcome. Please support your child and his/her team by helping rake and line fields, be a team manager, score keep, or work in the concession.

Please call President, Jeff Lipsett @ 832-3594 or talk to your Division manager to find out how you can lend a hand.
